— Ornamental
Ornamental tattoos in Zurich — pattern, symmetry, a calm line.
Sinkply draws ornamental tattoos in the fine line style — mandala elements, geometric structures and botanical ornaments. Decorative lines that follow the anatomy instead of covering it. Founded by Aroa, Staffelstrasse 8.
What ornamental means here
Ornamental is not a style quotation for us — it's a posture toward the line. We work with decorative forms such as mandala fragments, geometric repetition and botanical vines, but always in fine line: thin confident contours, deliberate black, and the pauses that let a piece breathe.
The result is a tattoo that reads as composition up close and as quiet pattern from a distance — no solid black fills, no overcrowded dotwork.
Three routes into the ornamental
Mandala fragments
Instead of closed circles, we work with half or open mandala structures that wrap around the body area — shoulder, upper arm, collarbone.
Geometric line compositions
Triangles, circles, angles — combined with delicate connecting strokes. Works particularly well on the forearm, ribs and back.
Botanical ornaments
Leaves, vines, buds — repeated and mirrored into decorative bands. Ideal for elongated areas such as the inner forearm or along the spine.
Ornamental as a bridge between tattoos
Many people who choose an ornamental piece already have other tattoos. This is where the style shines: it works particularly well as a connection between pieces, as a decorative extension or as a structural frame.
Instead of adding another figure, the ornamental adds harmony. Existing tattoos get room to breathe and become a composition rather than compete with each other. We often see this as a first step toward a later large piece — see also our page on large fine line pieces.
Best body areas for ornamental
Ornamental lines follow the anatomy. A good placement is one where the pattern moves with the body — not against it.

FAQ — ornamental tattoos
What is an ornamental tattoo?
An ornamental tattoo is a decorative piece built on pattern, symmetry and calm line work — mandala elements, geometric structures, botanical ornaments. At Sinkply we draw it in the fine line style: delicate lines, deliberate black, anatomical composition.
How much does an ornamental tattoo cost in Zurich?
From around CHF 150 for a mini. Exact price after sharing your idea via WhatsApp. We work with fair flat prices per piece — no hourly rates, no discounts.
Can an ornamental tattoo connect existing pieces?
Yes. Ornamental lines work especially well to link existing tattoos into a single composition. Instead of adding another figure, the style brings rhythm between pieces and lets them breathe.
Which body areas work for ornamental tattoos?
Ornamental pieces work particularly well on the forearm, upper arm, back, chest, ribs and back of the hand. The line follows the anatomy.
