What is a couple tattoo?
A couple tattoo (or matching tattoo) is a shared motif inked on two bodies. It can be identical, complementary, or split — what matters is that the two tattoos together say more than each one alone.
We do couple tattoos for romantic couples, best friends, sibling pairs, mothers and daughters, sometimes whole groups of three or four. The form of the relationship isn't the point — the point is the connection you want to hold in a small piece of ink.
Three variants — identical, complementary, fragmented
Five years of couple tattoos has surfaced three base variants. Each has its strength. The right choice depends on how visible or hidden the connection should be.
01 — Identical
The same motif, often in the same place. Maximum visibility of the connection — visible in every shared photo, every time you hold hands. Examples: a comma, a star, a date, a shared letter.
02 — Complementary
Two halves of one whole. Sun and moon, key and lock, wave and mountain, plant and blossom. Works for two very different personalities who want to find something shared inside their differences.
03 — Fragmented
A single motif split across two bodies. A divided line, a sentence that runs over both arms, a map with two halves. More subtle — the connection only becomes visible when you stand together.

This isn't a ban — we do tattoo names when you know what you want. It's an honest take on what's still easy to wear after five to ten years.
Flow — two sessions, one day
- 01 Write to us together on WhatsApp — both motifs, both placements, ideally with reference images. We reply within 24 hours with a proposal, sizes and a combined price.
- 02 We book a slot where two artists are available if you want to work in parallel. If that isn't possible, the second session runs right after.
- 03 On the day we draw both motifs in the studio, check sizing and placement on your skin, then start.
- 04 Pause between sessions for coffee, water, a short break. We take the time you need.
- 05 Both tattoos sealed with second-skin film, care instructions in hand, home together. Healing runs in parallel — about three and a half weeks.
And if things change?
One question that almost always comes up, sometimes directly, sometimes after three coffees: what if you break up? We give an honest answer — technically nothing, emotionally your decision.
We see clients who come back years later for a cover-up, and we see clients who keep their couple tattoo because it belongs to a time that was true for them. Both ways are fine. If you ever want a cover-up or an extension of the motif, we're here.

Can we both get tattooed at the same time?
If we have two artists available that day, yes — parallel. Otherwise the second session runs right after the first. Plan for half a day.
Do both tattoos have to be identical?
No. Three variants: identical, complementary (two halves of one whole) or fragmented (two pieces that together form a sentence or image).
What does a couple tattoo cost?

What happens if we break up?
Technically nothing — the tattoo stays. Emotionally that's a personal decision. Cover-ups or extensions are always possible later.
Which motifs work?
Small and symbolic ages best: a date, a symbol, a shared letter, a constellation. Large name lettering rarely ages well.
Also between friends?
Of course. We do as many matching tattoos between friends, sisters, mothers and daughters as between romantic couples.
Do we have to pick the same body spot?
No. Same spot makes the matching more visible in photos (wrist, ankle, collarbone), but different spots work too.
How big are couple tattoos usually?
Over 90 percent are between 1.5 and 4 cm. More discreet and lower price per person.
