— Handwritten
There are handwritten things that should never get lost.
A note on a crumpled piece of paper. Someone's signature on a birthday card. A few words scribbled in a hurry that, for some reason, you've kept all these years.
At Sinkply we take that piece of paper straight to the skin. Without interpreting it, without redrawing it. Exactly as it is — with all its details, its tremor, its character.
What exactly is a handwritten tattoo?
It's a tattoo in which we reproduce someone's actual handwriting, exactly as it appears on paper. It's not a typeface that looks like handwriting. It's their writing. Yours, your mother's, your partner's, the writing of someone who isn't here anymore.
It can be a few loose words, a sentence, a signature, a name, a date. Whatever that person wrote.
The result is a fine line tattoo that keeps all the original details: the pressure of the pen, the curves that are particular to that person, even the small imperfections that make their handwriting unique.
How does the process work? Simpler than it seems
Step 1: you send us the photo
Take a clear photo of what you want to tattoo: a letter, a card, a piece of paper, a note on your phone — whatever it is. Send it on WhatsApp to +41 77 212 0767. It doesn't have to be perfect, the writing just needs to be clearly visible.
Step 2: the size
Sometimes we can keep the actual size of the signature or of whatever was written. Otherwise we try a size in the studio that adapts well to the chosen area.
Step 3: in the studio
In the studio we work out all the final details and then we get started. Try your lettering in the Tattoo Simulator before your appointment.
What kinds of writing can be tattooed?
Most of them, yes. These are the most common ones we do at Sinkply:
- The signature of a loved one who is no longer here
- A phrase or a few words from a letter
- The name of a child written by themselves when they were learning to write
- A message on an anniversary card
- The handwriting of a grandfather, grandmother, a friend
- Your own handwriting — because it's also yours, and it also counts
What we need is for the writing to be readable and the photo to be sharp enough for us to reproduce the details. If you're unsure, send it over — we'll tell you right away whether it's feasible.
Why in fine line?
We work handwriting in fine line because the thin line captures the details of the original: the varying weight of a fountain pen, the natural curves, the subtlety of a signature.
The thin line keeps the feeling that the tattoo is written, not drawn. At Sinkply we've been working fine line since 2019. More about our main style on the Fine Line tattoos page.
What does it cost?
This kind of tattoo starts from CHF 150. The final price depends on the size and complexity of the writing.
If you'd like an exact quote before booking, send us the photo on WhatsApp and we'll reply, no commitment.

FAQ
Can I tattoo the signature of someone who has passed away?
Yes. If you have something with their handwriting, you have everything you need.
What if the photo isn't perfect?
Send it anyway. We can work with it in most cases. If there's an issue with readability or detail, we'll tell you before we confirm the appointment.
Will the tattoo last as long as a normal one?
Yes, with the same aftercare as any fine line tattoo. We explain the healing process on the day of the session. The price includes a Second Skin patch to protect the tattoo during the first days.
Do you have something written you'd like to turn into a tattoo?
Send it on WhatsApp. We'll tell you whether it's feasible, what size would work best and what it would cost. No commitment.
