— Mini Tattoo
Mini Tattoo Zurich — small pieces, drawn with precision.
Sinkply specialises in mini tattoos in the fine line style — single needle, discreet, clearly drawn. Motifs between 1.5 and 4 cm, tattooed at Staffelstrasse 8 in Zurich. From CHF 150. By Aroa and the Sinkply team.
What is a mini tattoo?
A mini tattoo is a small, precisely drawn fine line piece — usually between 1.5 and 4 cm. It's done with the thinnest needles in the industry, often using the single needle technique: one single needle, one single point carrying the line.
The result is the opposite of a classic tattoo. No thick contours, no filled flat areas. Instead: a line that sits quietly on the skin as if drawn with a pencil. A symbol, a letter, a flower, a wave. Small enough to stay private, large enough to still be legible in years.
Mini tattoos are the most common entry into the fine line world. If you're thinking about your first tattoo, most of our clients start right here.
Size chart — mm & cm
Size isn't an aesthetic choice for a mini tattoo — it decides whether the motif will still be sharp in five years. Too small, and the line blurs. Too large, and it's no longer a mini tattoo.
Rule of thumb: A letter should be at least 5 mm tall to stay clear over the years. For very fine lines we never work below 1.5 cm total size.
Top 10 body areas for mini tattoos
Not every spot carries a mini tattoo equally well. This list is based on what we see daily at Sinkply since 2019 — sorted from most durable to most demanding.
Inner forearm
The classic. Smooth skin, little movement, perfect visibility. Heals cleanly.
Inner wrist
Discreet, readable, emotional — often first choice for words and symbols.
Collarbone
One of the most beautiful areas for fine linear motifs. Excellent longevity.
Outer ankle
Visible in summer, discreet in winter. Ideal for small symbols.
Behind the ear
Very private. Space for a single motif, never larger than 2 cm.
Inner upper arm
Discreet, protects the motif from sun — and therefore from fading.
Nape
Often fully covered by long hair — a private piece.
Ribs / underbust
Intimate area, very personal motifs. More sensitive during the session.
Hip
Controllable visibility — visible at the beach, hidden in daily life.
Fingers
Beautiful but short-lived — skin renews faster here. Plan for touch-ups.
Single needle technique
Single needle means: one single needle, not a bundle. While classic tattoos use 3, 5 or 7 needles at once, our fine line machine works with just one — the smallest tool that exists in the tattoo world.
The result is a line barely wider than a pencil stroke. For mini tattoos this is crucial: a 2 cm motif with ten details needs lines that don't bleed into each other. Single needle makes that possible.

Frequently asked questions
How small can a mini tattoo be?
Most mini tattoos at Sinkply are between 1.5 cm and 4 cm. Smaller than 15 mm becomes technically tricky — fine details need space, otherwise the line loses clarity over the years.
How much does a mini tattoo cost in Zurich?
At Sinkply, mini tattoos start at CHF 150. Depending on detail level, body area and size, most pieces land between CHF 150 and CHF 250.
Does a mini tattoo hurt?
Thanks to the very fine needles, most clients describe the pain as 2 out of 10 — like lightly scratching the skin with a pen cap. The session is often over before you get used to it.
How long does the session take?
A simple mini tattoo is done in 30 to 45 minutes. More detailed pieces take up to 90 minutes including consultation, placement and tattooing.
Which body areas work best?
Inner forearm, inner wrist, ankle, behind the ear, collarbone and inner upper arm are ideal. Fingers and palms look great short term but don't hold as well as other areas.
How long does a mini tattoo last?
A mini tattoo is meant to last forever. At Sinkply we use single needle technique at the right skin depth — so the line stays clean for years. Free touch-ups are included.
Can I get two mini tattoos in one session?
Yes. Many clients combine two or three mini tattoos in one session — for example one piece on the wrist and one on the ankle. We'll discuss it in the consultation.
Is a mini tattoo a good first tattoo?
Mini tattoos are the most common entry into the fine line world. They're quick, discreet and emotionally easier to carry. Most of our clients start here — and come back for their second piece.
