A tattoo gives lasting form to something personal. What makes a tattoo valuable is not only how it looks, but the connection it creates with the person who carries it. At Sinkply, we approach every tattoo with the care, precision and responsibility that permanence demands.

What others see is a tattoo. What the person carrying it sees may be a memory, a bond, an important chapter — or simply something beautiful that has become part of them.
We believe the decision to get tattooed belongs first and foremost to you. It doesn't need to follow a trend or satisfy anyone else's expectations. Our role is to listen, understand, and give that personal choice a form worthy of remaining.
Because a tattoo is not only something that is seen. It is something that is lived.

The quality of a tattoo is decided long before the needle touches the skin.
Every good tattoo begins with a conversation. In the studio or online — so you don't have to travel unnecessarily — we resolve everything beforehand: the idea, the scale, the placement, the proportions. When it helps, we test stencils and sizes directly on the skin.
We advise you honestly. Sometimes that means making a detail larger so it stays legible over the years. Sometimes reconsidering a placement that wouldn't age well. And sometimes honesty means saying no. This is not a limitation of our service — it is part of our responsibility. A tattoo lasts a lifetime. Our priority is that you feel good about it for a lifetime.
Our tools are a decision, too, never a given. We have tried the best the market has to offer — machines, needles, pigments — and today we work only with what has proven itself in daily practice. Some differences only appear over time: a very fine line can look flawless on the first day and blur within a year if the depth isn't exact — or one pigment heals less crisply than another on the same skin. These aren't visible in the final photo, but months later — and they are precisely what we watch for. But tools alone don't create an exceptional tattoo. They must be guided by an experienced hand, judgement and restraint.
And our work doesn't end when you leave the studio. We offer free touch-ups — so your tattoo looks the way it did on the first day.

All of this knowledge comes together in something that may ultimately measure less than a millimetre: a single line intended to remain.

Sinkply did not begin with a machine. It began with a standard.
At first, we were the clients ourselves — and we barely dared. You only went to a studio if someone you trusted took you; the studio itself didn't give you that confidence. That's exactly what we set out to change.
At first, Jon and Aroa didn't tattoo. They did everything else: the till, scheduling, cleaning, the website, marketing, aftercare — every role in the studio except picking up the machine. They made sure every piece met their standard of quality, and built a level of care that simply didn't exist at the time — a place whole families come to: mothers, fathers, grandparents.
As the team grew, they came to lead it and gradually delegated those tasks — but knowing firsthand how each one should be done, because they had done them. That's why at Sinkply the whole journey is considered, not just the needle: the consultation, the execution and the aftercare.
Over months and years they gathered something rare: hundreds of pieces seen, from different artists, with different materials, on different skin — and above all healed over months and years. That perspective, reading many results over time, is hard to have when you only see your own work.
Out of love for the craft — and from tattooing each other and friends — they eventually picked up the machine themselves. With that foundation, the step was a natural one. In 2019 this became a studio dedicated exclusively to fine line, when there was barely one anywhere.
We also changed how a studio can work: brand collaborations and live activations at events of every kind — from music to fashion to corporate. That's what grew us beyond the studio.
We chose Zürich partly for our son — a city where he grows up with several languages, and nature on the doorstep. The city won us over. Since 2024 we've been here, and Aroa is the face of Sinkply in Zürich: she tattoos in person. Jon and Aroa are a couple, and have a son. Sinkply is a family studio in the literal sense: independently run, with the same standards in every place.
Remaining independent gives us the freedom to choose — the artists who belong with us, the materials we use, and how much care we put into every step.

This way of working was born from reading results at scale. That knowledge doesn't replace the artist's — it complements it. The hand, the style and the instinct are theirs; what we add is reading what works over time, across many skin types and many materials.
Every Sinkply artist has an individual style and signature. That individuality matters to us.
But knowledge is never kept to one person. Among ourselves we pursue excellence — and we guide every new member of the team closely, so the same quality is preserved everywhere. What we learn about technique, placement and healed results, we share.
Because when one artist improves, every client benefits.
— A team, a small home
Today we are a team of fine line artists from different countries, each with their own signature. It matters to us that we get on well with one another — this is our small home, and you can feel it. Whoever joins should be excellent at their craft and a good person on the team.
At the centre, for us, is still the person, not only the tattoo. All kinds of people come to us — families who come together, sisters sharing a small, symbolic mark. We take a fine, small tattoo as seriously as a large one — that was our core from the very beginning.

A tattoo does not exist in isolation. It lives on a moving, individual body. So we don't simply transfer an image onto skin. We adapt every composition to the person and the placement — anatomy, direction, balance, negative space.
And a freshly finished tattoo is only the beginning. Its true result appears once the skin has healed. We don't tattoo for the photo at the end of the appointment. We consider how lines will settle and how the composition stays clear and balanced in the future.
The healed result is what ultimately matters.
